Using OPNET To Compare and Analyze Different Traffic- Bundling Schemes
Abstract A consequence of migrating from the existing Internet architecture to an all-optical one is that at all times the network will consist of a mixture of equipment, ranging from electronic routers to all-optical packet and wavelength switches. In such networks packet lengths and bit rates will vary considerably and hence traffic bundling functionalities are required. In traffic bundling devices, short packets from a number of different streams are combined into one large packet. In this paper different traffic bundling schemes are analyzed and compared with respect to link utilization and queuing delay guarantees under various input traffic conditions.
